We performed the automation of the electrical system Atalaya, belonging to the concession of the company Electro Ucayali S.A.
This system consists of:
– 01 thermal generation plant
– 01 hydroelectric generation plant
– 01 solar generation plant -USA implemented an innovative solution consisting of:
The solution consists of a SCADA system implemented in the Atalaya thermal power plant which will allow the supervision, monitoring and automatic operation of the thermal generation groups of the plant, it will also allow the supervision and remote monitoring of the existing equipment of the hydroelectric power plant for an improvement in the operations. On the other hand, this system will be integrated to Electro Ucayali’s main control center, from which it will be possible to supervise the power plant, improving the management capacity of Electro Ucayali’s operators.
– Intelligent sensors are used to monitor Atalaya’s feeders.
– A SCADA system based on a modern graphical interface is used, on par with the world’s leading SCADA systems.
– Microgrid controllers are used for the thermal generation groups, which allows an intelligent management of the thermal generation resource.
With this project, Electro Ucayali obtains the following benefits:
– Automate the generator sets of the Atalaya Thermal Power Plant via a local SCADA system that allows from a PC to monitor the electrical parameters of each generator set and perform the shutdown and startup of the same. In addition, to visualize the different alarms that could occur as a consequence of the operation of the groups.
– To guarantee the electrical stability of the Atalaya thermal power plant with the purpose of the later entry of the solar power plant.
– Prepare the infrastructure of the current Atalaya thermal power plant for the subsequent implementation of the automation project of the Atalaya thermal generation system and the sending of data to the EUSA control center.
– Integrate the signals from the IED’s of the Canuja hydroelectric power plant that have optimal communication characteristics for supervision and monitoring from the Atalaya Thermal Power Plant.
– Integrate the project to Electro Ucayali’s main SCADA ADMS/OMS/DMS system in EUSA’s control center. Provide a Video Surveillance System to Canuja and Atalaya Thermal Power Plants.
– Integrate the H1 feeder of the Canuja power plant to EUSA’s SCADA system and provide real time monitoring through Intelligent Sensors.
– Facilitate access to information.
– Use the fiber optic communication media provided by Electro Ucayali to meet the objectives of automation.
– The fact that Atalaya has a control center allows technology to reach the electricity service of the town, thus ensuring a continuous and efficient supply to customers and turning the town of Atalaya into a modern and automated electrical system for the development of the community.
